I believe in...

I believe in cowboy boots, country music, and Bud-light.

I believe in first kisses.

I believe in Sunday cooking, a glass of wine, and a good movie.

I believe in Fedoras and baseball hats on bad hair days.

I believe in timeless beauty, elegance, and grace.

I believe in friendships, even if miles separate them.

I believe in curves... a curve of the waist; a curve of a smile.

I believe that love is possible at first sight. Lust, certainly more appropriate.

I believe in roses.

I believe in New England Patriots football and the spirit of Boston.

I believe in dancing like no one is watching.

I believe in pasta. Big servings of delicious pasta.

Someone Like You

"I heard
That you're settled down
That you
Found a girl
And you're
Married now

I heard
That your dreams came true.
Guess she gave you things
I didn't give to you

Old friend
Why are you so shy?
Ain't like you to hold back
Or hide from the light

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it.
I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded
That for me it isn't over

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
Don't forget me, I begged
I remember, you said
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead.
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead,
Yeah.

You know how the time flies
Only yesterday
It was the time of our lives
We were born and raised
In a summer haze
Bound by the surprise
Of our glory days

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it.
I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded
That for me it isn't over.

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
Don't forget me, I begged
I remember, you said
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead.

Nothing compares
No worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes
They are memories made.
Who would have known
How bittersweet this would taste?

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you
Don't forget me, I begged
I remember, you said
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
Don't forget me, I begged
I remember, you said
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead

Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead

The Wallflower; The Lonestar

"People think that your soul mate is your perfect fit, and that's what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you change your life."
{Unknown}

I was the wallflower; the lone star. I stayed silent in fear of being too loud; too out of place. Truthfully, I wore a blanket of self perceived inadequacy; a wardrobe of doubt. Tirelessly I fought the urge to spontaneously combust into a thousand tiny pieces revealing my true inner self. After all, who would be there to pick up the pieces?  I feared rejection. There I stood, paralyzed.

Then as fate would have it, I blossomed. I no longer feared being the wallflower; the lone star. What changed? Possibly age...possibly maturity...possibly the people I will call my "family" for the rest of my life. 7 years ago, I met my soul mates; the people that physically made me strip down my wardrobe of inadequacy and for that I am eternally grateful.

A mirror for many, is a scary, shallow place. It reveals to many, what we would like to ignore. But my friends, were not going to let me continue down the path of self-loathing. As I stared at my reflection, they forced me to verbally compliment myself. At first it was excruciating. For a minute I searched the mirror for answers, silently. Then suddenly...I spoke.

Although the gesture was simple, it made a profound impact on who I am today. They helped me become more assured, more confident...they made me feel beautiful. I was no longer the wallflower...the lone star.
